A school security officer was stabbed while breaking up a group of loiterers at a San Jose high school April 4.
Robert Lobach told the San Jose Mercury News that he was working for the Campbell Union High School District on Saturday night when he tried to disperse a group of males he suspected were drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana. Lobach said one of the males started arguing with Lobach and eventually punched him several times. When Lobach began to chase after the male he realized he’d been stabbed. Police supported Lobach’s account.
Lobach, who is a retired San Jose cop and was armed at the time of the stabbing, said the knife hit his spinal column instead of causing more serious injuries.
Hours after the incident police arrested 24-year-old Jesus Miranda on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. Miranda is being held on $500,000 bail.
