School Bomb Threats Have Nearly Doubled in Mass.

Bomb threats have nearly doubled this school year for Massachusetts schools compared to the 2013-2014 school year.

According to the Department of Fire Services, there were 38 bomb threats over the course of the last school year in the state. With over a month left of classes for most schools, that figure is already almost twice as high this school year.

The increase was highlighted by five bomb threats and a school shooting threat in Palmer, Mass., over the course of 30 days, according to wwlp.com.

State Fire Marshal Stephen Coan is supporting legislation that would require public and private schools to call police and fire departments as soon as a threat is discovered.
