JACKSBORO, Tenn. – The Campbell County Board of Education and Campbell County Commission have worked out a resolution that will enable the district to hire three school resource officers to monitor security at Jellico Elementary School and Campbell County High School.
The proposal comes nearly a year after the school shooting death of assistant principle Ken Bruce and wounding of two others. The shooting occurred last November at Campbell County High School.
The proposal, which does not involve raising taxes, is seen as a good first step, but Sheriff Gary Perkins said he would work on getting grants to add more school resource officers to monitor middle schools.
