A police officer serving the Portola Middle School in El Cerrito, Calif., has already made several arrests after being assigned to the school for less than a week. The officer was able to arrest five students – between the ages of 13 and 14 – after they allegedly knocked down a teacher and threw rocks at her.
Having an officer on campus is costing the school $18,000 a year; however, the school hopes the officer’s presence will serve as a crime deterrent.
Six El Cerrito High School students were also recently arrested for staging fights and posting them on YouTube., according to KTVU News.
