SAND SPRINGS, Okla. — Earlier this month, the Sand Springs Board of Education voted to use bond money from 2006 to purchase a DVR camera system to replace the VHS-based security camera system on its buses.
The system, from SEON, will cost $100,865, the Sand Springs Leader reports. SEON will install the system, which includes eight cameras on each bus. Six of those cameras will cover the interior of the bus; the other two will cover the outside.
The old system only allowed for one camera at the front of each bus; the camera was turned to face the students. Because of its wide-angle lens, the images could appear distorted.
