SARGENT Manufacturing Co., an ASSA ABLOY Group company, recently donated exterior and interior locks for a new, two-family house being constructed in New Haven, Conn. The house was designed and built by students of the Yale School of Architecture (YSOA) as part of its annual Vlock Building Project.
This year’s project was a 2,100 square foot residence, which includes a 700 square foot, one-bedroom rental unit.
In addition to providing the two exterior mortise locks and 15 interior locks from the company’s Studio Series, SARGENT invited all of the students involved in the project to tour the company’s New Haven headquarters. Experts from SARGENT explained the locks’ features and offered advice on how they would be installed.
Kris-Bylan Rydel, SARGENT’s marketing and communications manager, says that the company’s participation is very much in line with SARGENT’s commitment to community improvement.
“We believe our company has an obligation to do more than just sell product or provide technical expertise to our clients,” she says. “We believe in lending a hand to enhance the quality of life of the people in our community. The Building Project provides us a perfect avenue to meet this objective.”
