Reverse 911 Software

Published: May 27, 2008

Reverse 911, of Indianapolis, Ind., an emergency notification company, offers their service of the same name. The service is intended for time-sensitive mass distribution of messages to a targeted group of citizens, employees or students. The service can be used in communities to warn of everything from missing persons to hazardous materials incidents.

The company also recommends the service for non-emergency situations, but as a means of delivering any information to a community, be it a university or company personnel list.

The software uses 9-1-1 calling data and GIS mapping technology to target and notify affected individuals. It communicates by means of land lines, cell phones, alpha and digital pagers, fax machines, E-mail and TTY/TDD devices for the hearing impaired.
