HAMDEN, Conn. — Officials at Quinnipiac University have decided to have armed public safety officers patrol the college’s three campuses to improve response time to incidents requiring an armed officer.
The armed senior public safety officers will join the unarmed school safety officers who already patrol on foot and in cars, The Courant reports.
Before implementing the program, university administrators reviewed public safety models at several other colleges in the area, including Yale University and the University of Connecticut.
So far, many Quinnipiac University students have responded positively to the announcement of armed guards.
