SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Federal prosecutors have stopped the criminal investigation against former Syracuse University assistant coach Bernie Fine, who faced child-molestation accusations.
Last year, two former university ball boys, Bobby Davis and his stepbrother Mike Lang, accused Fine of molesting them in the 1980s. Later, two other accusers, Zach Tomaselli and Floyd Van Hooser, also alleged that Fine sexually assaulted them, The Post-Standard reports. However, after nearly year of interviewing 130 witnesses and sorting through 100,000 pages of documents, investigators found no evidence to support the claims.
Although Fine, 66, won’t face criminal charges, the allegations resulted in fine losing his job of 35 years at the university.
