UTICA, N.Y. – A former Morrisville State University was convicted on 11 felony counts May 19 for sending threatening E-mails and death threats by telephone to his former colleagues.
Xiang Li, 43, was appointed in August 2005 to teach computer science and was not a fan favorite with the students. When he was told he would not be rehired in the spring of 2006, Li promised to fight the decision. He then began sending threatening E-mails and making threatening phone calls to administrators and other professors on campus.
Li faces up to five years in prison. His sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 11.
