Probe Found Widespread Abuse at Kings County Hospital’s Psych Ward

A Federal probe investigating Kings County Hospital found widespread and ongoing abuse at the hospital’s psych ward. The investigation came after the July 2008 death of a patient who was ignored in the emergency room for 24 hours.

The “highly dangerous” conditions were found after the Justice Department looked into accusations of patients being drugged and brutalized at the psych unit known as “G Building.” The investigation also found rampant violence and sex between 14-year-old patients.

HHC President Alan Aviles has announced a $153 million facility to replace the G Building.
