STILLWATER, Okla. — A pro-life student organization has filed a lawsuit against Oklahoma State University (OSU), accusing the university of violating the group’s First Amendment rights.
Cowboys for Life allege that OSU administrators ordered the club to stop handing out anti-abortion literature near the student union, and also refused the group to put up anti-abortion displays on campus unless they had warning signs, Campus Reform reports.
Additionally, Cowboys for Life said that they were forced to put their displays in areas where fewer students would see the exhibit.
In response to the lawsuit, the university stated:
“As stated in OSU policy, the freedom of expression and assembly are the hallmark of an academic community. OSU offers students and others fair and equal opportunity for discussion. The university is reviewing the lawsuit.”
