Louisiana’s Caddo Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Marshall’s Task Force captured a non-violent offender, who had walked away from University Health in Shreveport where he was supposed to be treated Wednesday, according to a Shreveport Times report.
Christopher Picard, 32, who was serving a suspended sentence and was on probation for unauthorized use of a vehicle, was picked up Wednesday by Louisiana Probation and Parole. He complained of an illness and was taken to the hospital. Because he is a non-violent offender, a private security officer was assigned to him.
Officials don’t know how Picard was able to escape or how he was being monitored. He was found hiding under a mattress in a home after the police received tips from citizens.
Picard is now facing charges of simple escape and resisting arrest.
