RENO, Nev. – A 19-year old prisoner escaped from Wahoe County sheriffs’ custody while hospitalized following a suicide attempt. The prisoner, Nicholas Edward Sanchez, escaped Dec. 20 while using the restroom around 4:45 p.m.

He is 5-foot-10 and weights 150 pounds, with brown hair and eyes, and was wearing a bandage on his right arm when he fled custody. Sanchez was pursued by deputies before he managed to pull away, having started with a 100-yard lead.

The police say Sanchez is not to be considered dangerous, and he public should not be worried. He had been jailed earlier in the day for a misdemeanor drug charge before the suicide attempt forced his move to the hospital.
