Police Suspect Calif. Sex Offender Had Additional Victims

Three female high school students have already accused the registered sex offender of assault.

After a third student came forward accusing a registered sex offender of assaulting her, California police believe there may be even more victims.

Richie Equivel Corvera, of Whittier, was arrested Jan. 22 after two high school girls accused him of luring them into his car and sexually assaulting them in separate incidents. Corvera, 28, was charged with suspicion of rape by force or fear and for violating his probation, according to NBC Los Angeles.

In both incidents, Corvera was in the Sierra Vista Alternative High School parking lot during school hours trying to make contact with the girls.

Following media reports, a third girl accused Corvera of taking her to a motel and sexually assaulting her. Authorities believe that victim was walking to or from school at the time of the incident but does not attend Sierra Vista Alternative High School.

Police added school security at Sierra Vista and alerted parents of the incidents. Whittier Union High School District Superintendent Sandy Thorstenson assured parents that all visitors are required to sign in with campus security officials at the school’s main entrance and that Corvera has never entered the school.

Police are asking anyone who has additional information on Corvera, who is being held without bail, to come forward.
