Police Shoot Bank Robber Suspect in Fla. Hospital

The suspect was allegedly threatening hospital staff members with scissors.

A man suspected in a bank robbery was injured in an officer-involved shooting inside of a Florida hospital Wednesday.

The suspected bank robber was allegedly threatening staff members at the hospital when the officer fired his service weapon.

The incident began when Ocala police and FBI agents arrested a man, who has not been identified, and charged him with robbing a Bank of America in Ocala, Florida.

Police took the suspect to Ocala Regional Medical Center after he fell and claimed he was injured during the arrest, according to wftv.com.

While preparing for an X-ray, the suspect allegedly attacked a female staff member and threatened multiple people with a pair of scissors.

When the suspect refused to comply with police orders to drop the scissors, an officer shot the suspect.

The suspect’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. One hospital staff member also sustained minor injuries in the incident.

Now the Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the shooting.

The suspect was still hospitalized Thursday and will be taken to Marion County Jail when he is medically cleared.
