AMHERST, Mass. — Four teenagers are facing multiple counts of rape after a University of Massachusetts (UMass) freshman told police they gang raped her inside her dorm room during early morning hours on Oct. 13.
The alleged assault has prompted UMass police to review its security procedures, reports WWLP.com. Under UMass policy, all first-year students must live on campus and follow certain security guidelines when signing in guests.
After 8 p.m., all guests must show valid identification and be signed in by a student before entering an on-campus residence hall. Police said all but one of the suspects did before going to the victim’s room. The victim, who knew her attackers, was not present when the suspects arrived.
