HONOLULU — Officials at Roosevelt High School placed the institution on lockdown Tuesday after a 17-year-old cut a police officer with a knife and punched two others.
The student had formerly been a student at the school but was not registered for classes. When he showed up on the campus and officials recognized the unnamed teen as a runaway, they immediately contacted authorities, ABC News reports.
The teen attacked one of the officers with a kitchen knife, leaving him with a minor cut on his torso, when police attempted to take the boy into custody. The teen also punched the other two officers but neither suffered serious injuries.
One of the officers fired two shots, hitting the teen once in the wrist. His injuries were not life-threatening.
The boy has been arrested on three counts of attempted murder.
The officer who fired is currently on administrative leave.
