Police Arrest Duo in Hospital Death Bed Theft

TORONTO

Two men have been arrested for robbing a woman on her deathbed of $7,000 worth of jewelry at Toronto East General Hospital.

The duo was caught on a hospital security camera sneaking into the 83-year-old Edna Davis’ room in the palliative care ward March 16, reports CBC News. The patient died shortly after the incident.

Police arrested Toronto native Isaac Lewkowicz, 29, on March 17. He has been charged with theft, conspiracy to commit an indictable offense, possession of heroin and marijuana and failure to comply with probation.

His accomplice, Marcos Marinoni, 26, was arrested March 20. He has been charged with conspiracy to commit an indictable offence, theft over $5,000, two counts of theft under $5,000, theft of credit card, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, possession of a credit card obtained by crime and three counts of fraudulent use of a credit card obtained by crime.

Police said the pair is suspected in similar crimes at other hospitals in the area.
