Police Arrest 21 Students in Campus Drug Sting

URBANA-CHAMPAIGN, Ill.

University of Illinois (UI) police have arrested 25 people in connection with an ongoing drug sting that targets drug user and distributors on campus. Of those arrested, 21 are students at the university.

The charges range from low-level misdemeanor cannabis possession on up to serious felony charges alleging the sale of controlled substances, according to The News-Gazette. According to police, 180 grams of cannabis were discovered, as well as pieces of drug paraphernalia, cocaine residue and Xanax pills.

The arrested students may face additional penalties from the UI Office of Conflict Resolution.
