AUSTIN, Texas – Officials from the University of Texas (UT) McCombs School of Business announced this week that more than 197,000 personal records of faculty, employees, former and prospective students, and alumni were exposed as a result of a security breach.

The incident was discovered April 21 and was the second to occur at UT in three years.

The data accessed included Social Security numbers and other personal information. Although the exact date of the breach has yet to be determined, school officials say it could have happened as early as April 11. The incident is still being investigated.

Information for victims is available at a special Web site and toll-free number set up by UT. Those affected will also be notified by mail. Additionally, they will be informed if their Social Security numbers were obtained during the breach.
