UNIONTOWN, Pa. – The Uniontown Area School District is seeking retired municipal and state police officers for armed security posts to monitor schools.
Last week, district directors approved of a measure in a 7-2 voted that will allow the superintendent to advertise for trained officers to apply for the newly created positions, Herald-Standard reports.
UASD will be the first district in the Fayette, Greene, Westmoreland or Washington counties to have armed security officers in all of its schools.
Meanwhile, during an April 16 meeting, the Albert Gallatin Area School District unanimously approved authorizing security guards with Act 235 Lethal Weapons Training to carry a firearm when stationed at the front entrance of the high school and its parking lots.
