Pennsylvania Freshman Hacks Into School System, Arrested

DOWNINGTOWN, Pa. – A 15-year-old freshman was arrested for hacking into the Downingtown West High School system and stealing personal information, such as Social Security numbers, of school administrators and community members.

According to officials, the student, whose name has not been released due to his age, copied and duplicated information from the school’s database. He then transferred the data to his home computer.

More than 16,000 residents and 71 employees at one of the district’s schools were affected.

The student has been charged with computer trespass, computer theft, unlawful duplication and theft by unlawful taking or disposition.
