STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — Penn State will not renew the contract of athletic director Tim Curley, who faces charges of perjury and failing to report child abuse, when his contract expires in June.
Curley, 58, is currently on leave after his arrest on charges connected to the Jerry Sandusky child abuse scandal. University officials notified Curley of his forthcoming dismissal this month, reports Philly.com.
Curley, along with former university vice president Gary Shultz, will stand trial in January based on allegations that they failed to report Sandusky’s inappropriate contact with children to authorities, then later lied about it to a grand jury. Penn State will continue to pay Curley’s legal fees as his case stems from decisions made in his official capacity at the school.
