Penn State to Install Security Cameras in Residence Halls

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — Penn State University is currently installing more than 600 surveillance cameras in residence halls and common areas across its main campus.

The surveillance cameras will monitor entrance lobbies, stairwells, elevators and common service desks. The university will not install the devices in dorm rooms, restrooms or other areas that would violate student privacy, the Associated Press reports.

The project should be completed next May.
