The recent Penn State child sex scandal has caused lawmakers and university officials across the country to move quickly to strength rules on who must report sexual abuse on campuses.
According to Governor Tom Corbett, within the next few weeks, Pennsylvania lawmakers will introduce bills to outline the roles of school personnel when it comes to reporting abuse, USA Today reports. Several other states are considering tougher laws on child sex abuse reporting, including Iowa, Maryland and New York.
Corbett said he would not be surprised if a bill addressing child abuse reporting was passed before the end of the year.
