Patients Concerned About Electronic Health Record Security

Only 26% of patients want to see their doctors use electronic health records (EHRs) according to a study conducted by Harris Interactive and commissioned by Xerox.

Eighty-five percent of respondents expressed concern about digital medical records, eWeek.com reports. However, about 40% believe EHRs would improve care — a number which has held steady for the past three years.

Negative press from health care data breaches may be contributing to patients’ EHR concerns, according to Nancy Fabozzi, principal analyst for health care at Frost & Sullivan.
