PORTLAND, Ore. — A woman has filed a lawsuit against Legacy Emanuel Medical Center, accusing a male nurse of molesting her in the hospital’s emergency room.
The lawsuit states that when the patient, identified as K.S., reported that Jeffrey McAllister, 38, a registered nurse in the emergency room, sexually assaulted her, LEMC security officials refused to investigate the claims. Rather, they escorted her out of the hospital even though she had not yet received treatment for her miscarriage, the Associated Press reports.
The lawsuit cites the hospital’s negligence and seeks $2.5 million.
McAllister, who was charged with sexual abuse, has pleaded not guilty. However, he remains in custody on an accusation that he molested three other women in the emergency room. LEMC terminated McCallister, who worked in the emergency room from 2008 until April 2013, dismissed the nurse after receiving complaints that he offered a patient additional pain medication in exchange for oral sex.
