Norfolk sheriff’s deputies have begun to patrol neighborhoods around Old Dominion University (ODU). The move was prompted by a recent increase in crime that included armed robberies and a shooting.
According to the Virginia Pilot, other problems at the school include a limited campus shuttle system, poor lighting on city streets and an inefficient alert system. Acting president John Broderick says ODU is working to address these problems as well.
