A former contracted security guard for an Ohio school district was sentenced to five years in prison after admitting to making a series of anonymous bomb threats.
Christopher Darnell Files, who worked as a guard at North College Hill Schools in March, was charged with three counts of inducing panic and ordered to pay $168,724.80 in restitution.
North College Hill police say Files confessed to making the threats and said he didn’t have a bomb when they confronted him with evidence, according wcpo.com.

Police worked with cell phone companies and used video surveillance footage to implicate Files, who reportedly used his cell phone to make the threats while working inside the school buildings.
Files had only worked at the district for two weeks when he made threats to the middle school and high school.
“It’s very sad. The world today is quite different,” District Superintendent Gary Gellert says. “Things have changed significantly. It used to be that these threats would be written on pieces of paper or on the bathroom stall.”
Police did not release a motive for the crime.
