Officer Quits Job After Using Stun Gun on Patient

MARTINSVILLE, Ind. — A police officer who worked as security at St. Francis Hospital Mooresville while off-duty quit his job at the hospital after he used a TASER on a female patient.

Officer Rob Townsend reportedly Tased the patient three times while she was tied to a hospital bed on June 16, the Reporter-Times reports. Townsend said the patient was being abusive and was a danger to herself and others.

Townsend has since turned in his hospital badge, stating that he does not like the hospital’s stun gun policy.
