Nurse Sues County After Inmate Bites Off Fingertip

REDDING, CALIF.

A Shasta Regional Medical Center nurse in Redding, Calif. is suing the county after an unsupervised jail inmate allegedly bit off the tip of her finger. The inmate was brought to the hospital for a mental-health evaluation.

The suit alleges that the allegedly violent inmate was left unattended, unshackled and unsupervised, which is in violation of the jail’s own policies, according to Redding.com.

The nurse is seeking a minimum of $25,000 in damages.
