PEORIA, Ill. — Unity Point Health-Methodist Hospital has beefed up security after a nurse was carjacked outside the facility on Oct. 15.
The 32-year-old nurse had just ended her shift at the hospital at 11 p.m. and walked to her vehicle. Two men confronted the nurse, one with a handgun. The suspect hit the victim four or five times in the face with the weapon, while the other attacker repeatedly hugged her and told her she was going to be all right, Journal Star reports.
The two men took off with the victim’s 2002 Ford Escape, along with her purse, $40 cash and a cell phone.
Hospital officials have increased patrols and added extra security around the parking deck.
