RALEIGH, N.C. – A gang related shooting that took place on the North Carolina State University campus July 27 was ordered by an inmate at the Wake County jailhouse, according to The News Observer.
According to court records, campus police are searching for a letter that allegedly contains shooting orders and instructions.
Police arrested Terrell Grimes, 16; Leroy Barnes Jr., 19; and Ryan Barnes, 20 for the incident. All three are said to be members of the “Rollin’ 30s Set” of the Crips street gang. Each has been charged with attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill.
The two victims, Clarence Grubbs and Carolyn Pittman, were shot shortly after midnight at a gazebo on campus. Police said Grubbs is a member of another set of the Crips. The male victim is suspected of being member of another gang, which is the reason he was targeted.
The orders allegedly came from 20-year-old Alex Dorsey. He has been at the Wake County jail since May 19. Police did not say if charges would be filed against Dorsey.
