Norfolk State Music Student Slain in Dorm Altercation

NORFOLK, Va. – A Norfolk State University music major was stabbed to death following an altercation outside his dormitory March 31.

Terrance Allen Ross, 18, fatally stabbed fellow Norfolk St. student Sean Donte’ Williams, 18, and injured non-student friend Sherrod Allen. Police have not disclosed the cause of the violent dispute. Fellow students speculate that Williams, who was gay, may have been the victim of a hate crime because of his sexual preference. However, police report no evidence of a hate crime.

Williams majored in music with a concentration in voice and a minor in piano. He was a member of the university’s concert choir and also part of the Spartan Chorale, a coveted a cappella group.

The university has made grief counselors available to distressed students. Allen was last reported to be in good condition at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
