The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Board of Directors has elected Jim Pauley as the organization’s president. He will assume his new role in July.

With his appointment, Pauley succeeds James M. Shannon, who has served as NFPA president since 2002.

Pauley, currently senior vice president of External Affairs and Government Relations for Schneider Electric, has served in various codes and standards-related activities with American National Standards Institute (ANSI), NFPA and the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA).

“Jim is an experienced leader and very knowledgeable on many of the issues important to NFPA,” says Philipp Stittleburg, NFPA board chairman. “This appointment ensures the continued pursuit of the critical mission of NFPA and positions the association to address the challenges of our times.”
