Campus Safety magazine has some exciting changes scheduled for 2009. Now healthcare and education security stakeholders can get even more involved in our publication.

Surveys Track Hospital, School, University Safety Trends
Because our readers place a high value on learning from their peers, we are expanding the number of polls/surveys we conduct so that you’ll get more information from the people you trust. Every issue this year will feature a survey on a hot topic, such as communications interoperability, infant abduction and emergency alerts. The results of our exclusive fire survey, for example, will appear here.

For our March/April issue, we are currently polling schools and universities on the changes they have implemented since the Columbine High School tragedy that occurred 10 years ago. To participate, go to www.campussafetymagazine.com/Columbine.

Proud of a Recent Technology Deployment? Tell Us About It!
CS magazine has introduced “Technology at Work,” a new department highlighting successful hospital, school and university safety and security equipment deployments from around the nation. Check out this exciting new department by clicking here.

If your institution has recently installed or deployed a new or upgraded safety or security solution (such as video, access control, mass notification, weapons, incident management/dispatch, or infant abduction), your hospital, school, district or university could be selected to be featured in “Technology at Work.”

To be considered, E-mail me a brief description of what was done, along with a high-resolution photo of the healthcare or educational facility(ies) that received the upgrade. Companies or vendors that provide solutions are also encouraged to submit descriptions of their accomplishments.

Print/Online Content, In-Person Sessions Focus on Funding
The current economic recession has caused many campus protection professionals to work harder than ever to make ends meet. So that our readers can find the resources they need to adequately protect their institutions, CS has partnered with Kurt Bradley, director of CHIEF Grants, a division of CHIEF Corp., to provide a four-part series on grant application writing. The first installment, called “Campus Safety Grant Strategies: Your 1st Steps,” is located here.

But reading about an important topic can only help so much. Sometimes we need personal interaction that will allow us to ask questions so we can fill in the gaps. That’s how the Campus Safety Conference can help.

Bradley, along with many other experts, will be on hand at this event to provide guidance on grant writing, stretching budgets and increasing your security technology’s return on investment.

Don’t Be Shy. We Want to Hear From You
These are just some of the changes we’ve made in order to keep pace with the rapidly evolving challenges associated with campus protection. As we move forward, I encourage all of you to send us your ideas on how we can better address your needs. We also want to hear about the lessons you have learned from your experiences – good and bad.

The more information we share, the better we can prepare for whatever awaits us in 2009. Happy New Year!
