After being denied the opportunity to see his newborn child at Rapides Regional Medical Center, a 17-year-old boy attacked the child’s mother, threatened a nurse and then attacked a hospital security officer, reports thetowntalk.com.
Around 4:30 a.m. Aug. 1, Elijah Jones got into an argument with the 15-year-old mother of the child. When she explained that he would have to wait to see the baby, he hit her in the face with a phone charger numerous times.
During the attack, a 22-year-old nurse came into the room to see what was going on. Jones reportedly threatened to hit her.
The nurse then alerted security when Jones left the room. When a 61-year-old security officer tried to stop him, Jones hit the officer in the face and hit him across the back with a “wet floor” sign.
Jones was booked into the Rapides Parish Jail.
