NECUSA Announces Award Winners

NORTH CONWAY, N.H. – The Northeast Colleges and Universities Security Association (NECUSA) held its 54th annual conference June 10-13 and announced the winners of the Robert Bunker Award, Letter of Commendation, NECUSA Exemplary Performance Award, and
NECUSA Professional Achievement Award at its installation banquet June 13.

The award winners are:

Robert Bunker Award

Cornell University

  • Officer Denise A. Schulze –  Saving a life of a choking woman after responding to a medical call.
  • Officer Anthony J. Tostanoski and Ronald J. Rogers – Saving a male subject attempting to end his life by jumping off a nearby bridge.

Monroe Community College

  • Officers Mike Farrow and Stan Knutowicz – During routine patrol in a parking lot observed a male slumped over in a passenger seat, upon further investigation realized he was not breathing. They revived him and also recovered drug paraphernalia in the vehicle. He was transported to a nearby hospital and survived.

Letter of Commendation

Cornell University

  • Christopher J. O’Hara & Stanley W. Slovick – After responding to a welfare check, was able to cut down a subject who attempted to hang herself. She survived and was transported to a mental health facility.

NECUSA Exemplary Performance Award

Delaware Valley College

  • Security Officer Jennifer Bodder – Stopping an indecent exposure suspect who was exposing himself in this county for over two years, called for backup for the local police department, and the suspect was apprehended.

Cornell University

  • Officer Ronald J. Rogers – For various efforts that included more than 80 DUI arrests, his commitment to the Field Training Officer Program and overall above and beyond performance in his duties at Cornell University PD

Worcester State College

  • Jason Kapurch – Sgt. Kapurch outstanding effort while working with other multiple police agencies in apprehending a fugitive of justice who was known to be a gang member and armed and dangerous who was hiding and staying with one of the WSC resident students.

NECUSA Professional Achievement Award

Dartmouth College, N.H.

  • Sgt. Lauren Cummings – Who initiated and implemented the Waterfront Safety Program at Dartmouth College and trained all the staff in related areas of water rescue. In addition, designing and building the pontoon to fit the requirement to rescue 12 people at a time if needed.
