OMAHA, Neb. – Bellevue Public Schools were recently reimbursed for nearly half of the $100,000 they spent on security cameras.
During a ceremony May 4, the district was paid $48,325 in matching funds from the Bellevue Police Department via a Department of Justice grant.
Although originally, surveillance cameras were installed five years ago at front doors and high traffic areas, the grant enabled the district to install additional units at other areas with a history of theft. Also, cameras were installed at the district’s transportation center, and the system’s server was updated so it can now handle digital images.
