The National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security (NCS4), located at The University of Southern Mississippi, is hosting a National Intercollegiate Athletics Safety and Security Summit on January 28-30, 2014 in Hattiesburg, Miss.
The summit serves as the only annual combined meeting for personnel responsible for safety and security management at collegiate sports events in Division I, II and III institutions, as well as Athletic Conferences and BCS College Football Bowls.
Addressing key critical safety and security challenges, summit topics that will be covered include crowd dynamics/management, facilities design/environment, economic risks, innovation/technology and compliance.
“Through input from athletic departments, athletic conferences and bowl administrators and staff, campus law enforcement, first responders and security companies responsible for providing contract services, we will be able to broaden these components and concepts of best practices,” says NCS4 Director Lou Marciani. “We are excited to host this event and have people come to our National Center.”
Other issues to be addressed include staff development, game day issues, cost optimization, and building a safety and security-aware culture. Following the summit, each attendee will receive a “Summit Best Practices Guide,” – a compilation of their input along with that of subject matter experts.
