N.Y. District Upgrades Security Cameras With Justice Dept. Grant
LANCASTER, N.Y. — The Lancaster Central School District is upgrading the security camera systems at its middle school and high school this summer with funds from a federal grant. The grant and matching funds from the district total $50,270.
The funds will pay for 16 interior and exterior cameras, two digital video recorders and a security command center, Buffalo News reports. Half of the cost will be covered by the Justice Department’s Secure Our Schools program.
Also, the grant covers half of the $2,169 cost to purchase six two-way radios for St. Mary’s High School.
The new system should be operational by September, according to Jamie Phillips, assistant superintendent of business and support services.
