LAS CRUCES, N.M. — Fire investigators have determined that a blaze in an auto repair classroom was caused by arson. The fire destroyed the 24-foot by 32-foot portable, which was part of Mayfield High School.
An estimated $15,000 in equipment was destroyed during the incident, including a $4,000 error code scanner, Las Cruces Sun-News reports. An electrician on campus alerted the fire department to the blaze, and it was put out without damage to other buildings.
Investigators have yet to identify a suspect or determine a motive behind the arson.
