FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — In an effort to improve security measures at its facility, Cape Fear Valley Medical Center has implemented new high-tech visitor passes.
Introduced Jan. 1, the new measure requires hospital visitors to scan their photo identification upon arrival or have a digital photo taken for a pass that expires within 12 to 24 hours, Med City News reports. A sticker placed on the pass will turn into a stop sign when it is no longer valid.
Additionally, the hospital has reduced its number of entrances from 35 to eight. Hospital officials maintain that there was no specific threat that prompted the security enhancements.
