Ridgefield Park, NJ, and Las Vegas, NV—DVTel, Inc., ranked number one in market share by IMS Research and multiple award-winning market leader in the development and delivery of intelligent security solutions over IP networks, today announced that the Morris-Union Jointure Commission (MUJC) Developmental Learning Center-Warren has installed the DVTel Latitude Network Video Management System (NVMS) to provide video surveillance at the school as well as to utilize video for educational and record-keeping purposes. Both the video and access control systems were implemented through a joint venture between MSI Security Systems, Inc. and PROMEDIA Technology Services, Inc.
The MUJC is a regional collaborative public school district that provides services and programs to meet the needs of its 28 constituent school districts. The MUJC provides public school programs in supportive environments for students with autism or autistic-like behavior at their three Developmental Learning Centers.
The MUJC Developmental Learning Center in Warren is designed to bring “real world” experiences indoors, creating a community within a self-contained, structured environment. To this end, the school’s main hallway is actually modelled after a “Main Street,” and features a variety of storefronts and functioning businesses, including a barbershop, bank, supermarket, greenhouse, home improvement store, a diner, among others. These different businesses give students an opportunity to perform various job tasks, receive hands-on training, and learn through direct experience and application.
The Warren MUJC Developmental Learning Center boasts a robust IT network and is completely wired for cameras. In addition to usual camera placement to provide surveillance for security, cameras will also be located in the various learning environments. Current and future uses of video data include providing parents with high quality views of students while they learn, either at the media center in the school or by sending clips to the parents for viewing at home. The school will also include video clips of students in their records to chart progress and provide historical reference. Such video records and the easy distribution of video to parents and other educational experts will prove invaluable in supporting and enriching the learning experience.
“We developed an infrastructure based on industry standards in order to provide seamless integration of many technology systems,” said Stephen W. Kovacs, Systems Manager, Morris-Union Jointure Commission. “Whenever we implement technology solutions, we look for vendors whose products fit those criteria-we found that with DVTel.
“Usually in the school environment, our NVMS is used to provide security, said Eli Gorovici, DVTel President and CEO. “At the MUJC facility, our video is also being used for something really special: providing high quality, easily accessible video clips for parents to experience their children learning and for school officials to track student progress with visual records.”
