Here’s a roundup of some of the upgrades that have been implemented in U.S. schools recently.
Vernon, Conn., schools have just purchased 110 digital two-way radios to help teachers, staff and administrators communicate during emergencies, reports the Reminder News. The new system replaces nine disparate systems, which were having trouble transmitting across long distances. In addition, to communicating with each other, school staff will also be able to use the radios to communicate with first responders during emergencies.
Also in Connecticut, officials at Bridgehampton School are considering installing key card access control. If approved, the system will cost about $35,000, reports the Sag Harbor Express. Seven doors could also be outfitted with new hardware, and the camera-buzzer entry system might also be upgraded.
In Tucson, Ariz., new fencing and security cameras have been installed at Amphitheater Middle School, reports Tucson News Now. Additionally, now the school has only one point of entry, and a buzzer system has been installed in the front office.
