Michigan State U. Melee Costs Will Surpass $50,000

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Eleven people have been positively identified as suspects in the April 5-6 Michigan State University (MSU) campus party turned riot, according to police.

According to Michigan Live, warrants have been issued for eight suspects and three cases are in review.

Additionally, it will cost the East Lansing Police Department more than $50,000 to pay officers for their services. The money will cover overtime for the officers on duty and other assisting agencies, medical treatment for as many as 33 people and damage to city vehicles.

During the melee, more than 50 individuals were arrested and 48 were cited for other offenses. Two have pleaded guilty and others are expected to go on trial May 13.
