HOLYOKE, Mass. — In an effort to increase campus safety, the Holyoke Community College (HCC) Board of Trustees is considering arming the school’s nine-person campus police force.
The recent proposal is in response to a February incident in which HCC was placed on lockdown after 23-year-old Cameron Faniel threatened to shoot up the campus, MassLive.com reports.
HCC will hold a public hearing on May 22 to allow students, faculty and staff to voice their opinions on the matter.
