Two shootings took place next to King City High School in central California Tuesday in possibly connected incidents.
The first shooting injured an 18-year-old student outside of the school’s auditorium at 11 am. The student was shot twice and escaped by driving home in his SUV.
He was later taken to nearby Mee Memorial Hospital with life threatening injuries, reports ksbw.com.
The school was locked down after the shooting and a school security officer witnessed two suspects fleeing the scene on foot. King City police released a photograph of the suspected shooter, captured on video surveillance, in hopes the public can provide information as they continue to search for the gunman.

The second shooting occurred around 6 p.m. at the Silver Saddle Motel directly across the street from King City High School. Three teens were injured in that shooting and two people were taken into custody. A third suspected gunman in that shooting is still being pursued by police.
One of the victims of the motel shooting is in critical condition while two others were shot in the lower body.
King City Police Chief Robert Masterson told ksbw that it is too early to tell if the shootings are connected but officers have indications that they may be gang related.
Witnesses of the first shooting told Superintendent Daniel Moirao the shooter came from the motel where the second shooting occurred.
Nearly a dozen rounds were fired in each shooting.
