Toronto police are searching for an inmate who escaped from Mount Sinai Hospital March 15.
Andrew Smith, 36, was last seen escaping through the hospital’s front doors around 7 a.m., reports cbc.ca.
Smith had been arrested March 7 and charged with threatening death and weapons dangerous after police say he threatened a University of Toronto security officer with a knife.

Police say Smith was taken to Toronto’s Mount Sinai after complaining of medical issues. He fled after receiving treatment, although police are not yet revealing the details of his escape.
“There is a professional standards review underway and it will look at the officers’ actions and the overall processing providing these types of escorts,” Constable Jeniffer Sidhu said.
Police have described Smith as 5-11, 130 pounds with a receding brown hairline and glasses.
Sidhu said Smith is considered dangerous and police are asking for the public to contact them if they have any details of his whereabouts.
Smith’s escape comes after another prisoner escaped police custody at Toronto General Hospital in January. That man was recaptured after an anonymous tip was submitted to police.
